CFFormProtect for Mango

Here’s a plugin I’ve had on the back burner for a while, but Adam finally coaxed me into finishing it! (Thanks also to Adam for beta-testing it for me…)

CFFormProtect is a great anti-spam system written by Jake Munson, which uses a number of tests to determine if a blog comment is spam – all without any extra input required by the commenter. So say goodbye to those CAPTCHAs!

This plugin rolls this functionality into an easy-to-use plugin for Mango. Simply install it and you’re ready to go; but if you want, you can customise what tests and what weighting is given to each failed test.

So download it now and be rid of comment spam for good!*

*100% spam blocking not guaranteed. But it is highly effective…

Updated: I forgot to mention, the plugin also protects FormToEmail submissions…

Plugin version:
1.1
Requires:
Mango Blog 1.3
Auto-install URL:

Awesome! Hopefully now I can turn off comment moderation for my blogs. After receiving 5-6 spam messages a day, I was hoping you would get this done sooner than later. I will install it this afternoon and let you know how it goes. Im excited!

Tempting fate, I know, but I get very little spam on this site - so I'll be interested to see how everyone else does with this...

Thanks for the awesome plugin! I installed it last night into one of my blogs and so far all is well. Thanks for providing so many options for configuration. I think I can really target the spammers keywords well this way. For the time being I have removed the captcha for my site as well. I sure hope it works well. I hate Captcha's :( Plan to also install it on some other blogs tonight. I'll really be tempting fate then ;)

@Andrea: It protects comments on posts, pages and any FormToEmail forms.

Hey Seb, I know you updated this plugin to a 1.1 version. Where can we download the new version?

Is your ColdFusion 8 CAPTCHA compatible with CFFormProtect? Is there any reason that a Mango Blog based web-site should not run both at the same time? If so, then it seems to me that CFFormProtect is the smart choice since it seems to be vastly more capable when it comes to keeping spammers out of one's comment forms. Can you confirm this?

P.S. You may file this question under Department of Redundancy Department, if you wish.
